DR. SEUSS MONTH!!!

In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday the PTSO has planned fun activities throughout the month of February.  We encourage all students to read extra minutes during the month of February.  Every class that reaches their goal will earn a treat! (4th Grade goal is 600 minutes/student, that's only 22 minutes/day.  I will be sending home a reading calendar specifically for this contest so we can stay focused on our individual and class goal.)

January 31: CRAZY SOCK DAY!!!

February 14: Wear mixed up clothing

February 21: Favorite Dr. Seuss hair-do

Start Brainstorming for this Essay Assignment: MGES 4th graders have been selected as the only school to participate in an essay contest.  All the teachers will be requiring this as an assignment but we won't be starting until February....but that's only a week away. ;)  Please read the letter and start discussing to your child why

It's not too late to join the BATTLE!

Alrighty - have you joined the battle yet? If not.....let's do it!  Those of you who have, please help encourage our entire class to join in the fun.  Prizes, treats, collaborating with your friends, getting smarter, and the chance of winning are GREAT motivation to BATTLE IT OUT.  HERE are the details about the Battle of the Books and HERE is a list of books you can read and be tested on.  They are available at MGES, Morgan library, Amazon Kindle/Audible, and Pioneer ebook/audio.

Parents, I encourage you to have a good conversation about this fun opportunity with your child.  As I've talked to kids to find out how they're doing, some have mentioned they aren't participating because they feel like they are bad test takers.  What a teachable moment....this is a great time to practice testing because it doesn't go towards their grade.  You miss 100% of the shots if you don't take them, right? Let's help them believe in themselves, be brave to "take those shots," and trust their abilities.

They do have Book Club Meetings, but they're not mandatory. All meetings take place in the gym on Wednesday mornings at 8:00.  Here are the dates for the remaining meetings:
January 24
February 7
February 21
March 7
